Los gobiernos de Uruguay y Argentina trabajan para instalar una línea de tren entre las ciudades de Salto y Concordia, informó el subsecretario del Ministerio de Transporte, Juan José Olaizola.
En diálogo con el portal de Presidencia, el jerarca sostuvo que la interconexión ferroviaria respondería a una “necesidad social” ya que entre las dos ciudades se movilizan aproximadamente 400 personas por día.
Olaizola junto al presidente de la Administración de Ferrocarriles del Estado (AFE), José Pedro Pollak, se reunieron en Argentina con las autoridades del sector del vecino país para concretar la iniciativa.
Según informó el subsecretario, el gobierno argentino tendría que ejecutar tres kilómetros de obras y para Uruguay se manejan más de una posibilidad. Por un lado, que el tren llegue al centro de la ciudad de Salto, o que en la represa de Salto Grande se realice un trasbordo en ómnibus y que este llegue a la capital departamental.
